1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern access to and use of certification programs, examinations, digital credentials, training resources, websites, and related services provided by the Coalition of Information Technology Businesses (COITB) (“COITB,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).
By creating an account, registering for an examination, earning a credential, or otherwise engaging with COITB services, you (“Candidate,” “User,” or “Credential Holder”) agree to be bound by these Terms.
2. Eligibility and Account Responsibility
COITB certifications and services are available only to individuals who meet eligibility requirements defined by each certification program.
You agree to:
- Provide accurate, complete, and truthful information during registration
- Maintain the confidentiality of your login credentials
- Notify COITB immediately of any unauthorized account access
- Use COITB services only for lawful and authorized purposes
COITB reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
3. Certification Programs and Examinations
COITB certification programs are designed to validate professional competencies aligned with industry standards.
Candidates agree that:
- Exam content is confidential and protected intellectual property
- Reproduction, distribution, recording, or sharing of exam content is strictly prohibited
- Cheating, impersonation, collusion, or misconduct may result in invalidation of results, revocation of credentials, and permanent disqualification
COITB reserves the right to update exam formats, domains, scoring methodologies, and eligibility requirements.
4. Digital Credentials and Badge Use
Upon successful completion of certification requirements, candidates may receive a digital credential or badge.
Credential holders may:
- Share earned credentials on professional platforms (e.g., LinkedIn)
- Reference credentials in resumes and professional materials
Credential holders may not:
- Alter, misrepresent, or falsify credentials
- Claim certification status after expiration or revocation
- Transfer credentials to another individual
COITB retains ownership of all certification marks and digital badge designs.
5. Certification Validity and Recertification
Most COITB certifications are valid for a defined period and may require recertification through Continuing Education Units (CEUs), assessments, or other approved activities.
Failure to meet recertification requirements may result in:
- Credential expiration
- Removal from public verification systems
- Loss of active certification status
6. Complaints, Appeals, and Disciplinary Actions
COITB maintains formal processes for:
- Candidate complaints
- Examination appeals
- Credential challenges
- Ethics and conduct reviews
All submissions must follow published COITB policies. COITB decisions made through these processes are final and binding.
7. Intellectual Property
All content, examinations, training materials, documentation, logos, trademarks, and digital assets provided by COITB are protected by intellectual property laws.
You may not:
- Copy, reproduce, distribute, or modify COITB materials without written permission
- Use COITB branding in a misleading or unauthorized manner
8. Privacy and Data Protection
COITB collects and processes personal information in accordance with its Privacy, Confidentiality, and Security Policy.
By using COITB services, you consent to:
- Collection of information necessary for certification administration
- Secure storage and processing of candidate records
- Limited disclosure for verification, accreditation, regulatory, or legal purposes

9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, COITB shall not be liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Loss of employment, income, or professional opportunities
- Technical interruptions or service outages
Certification does not guarantee employment, promotion, or compensation.
10. Modifications to Terms
COITB reserves the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Changes become effective upon publication.
Continued use of COITB services constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
